A Little Night Stitching

Blogging Buddies, thanks for stopping by this morning.  It will be a short post today - not very much going on at all - which is a good thing.  I like routine and sameness!!  The weather should be changing here in the Bay area very soon and we are to be getting rain in the  next few days....  I'll believe that when I see it!
____________

Last night - it was a low key vegi/beef soup with cheese toast for dinner.  Rico is coming down with something so he felt like crap - and even stayed home from work today!!  Hope he feels better by the time I get home.

I stitched some on "Tis the Season" and even got out the camera for a snap before wrapping it up.

I had an email asking about the size of this piece and thought I would show it next to the Belle Soie so you can get an idea.  As you can see it is on the smallish side, but the colours are just lovely.  Digging around last night through the stash heap I came across another Cardinal/red bird chart I am thinking of kitting out to begin after I finish up this piece.  It is amazing how many things one can start......
____________

For the past few days I have had a tune in playing my head - along with all those voices!!  Does that ever happen to you?  I found a clip on You Tube so that you may also enjoy my "ear worm."

This is from the film "Topsy-Turvy" - 1999 - starring Allan Corduner, Jim Broadbent - and a huge cast of excellent actors...  The clip shows Shirley Henderson - an actress I really enjoy!! - as Leonore Braham playing Yum Yum in the Mikado.  The film is all about the creation/production of the Mikado by Gilbert and Sullivan in 1885.  A really fun movie!!
____________

That's about it for toady sports fans.  Do stop by again!!

Take care,
edgar

  2. Cardinals thing makes sense--state bird of NC (and about seven others) given your connection to that state. Love Topsy Turvy--like you said, a fun movie!

  3. Your cardinal start is lovely ... cardinals [indeed, all the winter backyard bird-feeder birds] are a favorite stitching theme of mine as well. I empathize with Rico, today is my second sick day, after fighting a head cold/sinus infection/croupy cough deal for a little over a week. It's gotten to the point where even my eyelids hurt. I hope his illness is of much shorter duration. We have had atypical weather in the NE: 40 and 50 degree days followed by teen degrees and then back up to the 40s. Everyone I know has a least one sick person at home. I wish the weather would just get cold and stay cold. Matybe our bodies would adjust and we could all recover!

  5. Wish we could have some low key dinner nights in my house. Everyone expects a gourmet meal every night. :)

  6. Oh, I like the sound of that movie! Have to add it to the queue! Our DS played a G&S song from Penzance the other night at his orchestra concert.

I love routine and sameness as well. Nothing going on is great. Too bad Rico is down with something though -- hope he feels better soon.

Love your Tis the Season so far!

  10. Edgar,

I just love the BBD that you are working on. It is a lovely piece.

Were you into the masterpiece Theatre production of Downton Abbey? The second season started on PBS last Sunday. DD and I watched it on DVR last night. I'm enjoy ing it but having some trouble remembering all that happened in the first part.

I hope Rico is feeling better by the weekend.

  11. THe colors for Tis the Season are beautiful. Someone once told me that singing "Build me up Buttercup" in your head would get rid of any song stuck in there. I think you just end up with "Build me up Buttercup" stuck in there!

  17. Oh Edgar hope Rico feels better soon, great progress on BBD.
Watched a great old movie at the weekend, Hobson's Choice 1954, B&W starting none other than John Mills before he was a Sir, and Charles Laughton, the female lead was an actress I had never seen before Brenda De Branzie, great watch, seeing as a just flipped a channel on the tele.

  20. Love the colors - can't wait to see the cardinal come to life.

Songs get stuck in my head all the time - usually because my husband puts it there - he's great for singing Christmas songs in the summer or a kids song...and then it won't leave.

Hope Rico feels better and you don't catch it!
