A Little Flicker Post

Gentle Readers and Dear Friends your kind words where so nice to read this morning - I do thank you and appreciate them!!  Last night was some more, not much more, but a little more stitching on Hornbook, it's coming along nicely.
__________

The flicker for the evening was a relatively new one compared to the many old Noir and Dramas I usually watch.  The film is called "Greenfingers" - 2000 - and stars - Clive Owen, Helen Mirren, David Kelly, Warren Clarke, Danny Dyer and Adam Fogerty.  This very English film revolves around a group of prisoners, gardening and a National Competition they enter.  Helen Mirren has never been better in this a stand out performance as "Georgina Woodhouse" gardening guru..  Based on a true story this perfectly charming film is a real gem - filmed in England with some beautiful footage of Hampton Court Palace it is really worth a look.

There you go sports fans - short and sweet.  Thanks for stopping by do come again!!

Take care,

  1. One of the things I like best about your blog is that it broadens my cinematic horizons. I had never heard of Greenfingers but now I am intrigued enough to add it to the Netflix queue. I have always enjoyed Helen Mirren's work, particularly in Prime Suspect, but this sounds like something of a departure from her usual roles. Thank you for the recommendation.

  6. Watched this a long time ago. Big Helen Mirren fan and Warren Clarke - you gotta love him.Bit rough and ready although if I recal a pussy cat in this film. Great movie. I attended a funeral this morning...wore my bangle that my "gardening" uncle gave me over 30 plus years ago. He introduced me to gardening and I have great memories of "our" achievements and long days with tea and biscuits in the garden planning the next move (there were lots of moves- plants should have been on wheels). I have carried it and work the way I was taught and I am now doing garden design...I never got to his funeral overseas and always regret that but wear "his" bangle when I attend others. Then your blog today Edgar and more gardening...coincidence or is he sending me a message lol? He is in my thoughts lots today so thanks for keeping it going... Always enjoy the blog and see many connections...mmmmm!!!
