GR&DF could the post title be a bit more dull?? I wonder. Sometimes I just haven't a clue what to call the days post - especially if it will be about different bits of info - oh well - its Tuesday and on with the post.
I did want to thank you for the kind comments and wanted to sort of answer Denise's and Peggy Lee's question - about "How Many 'A Christmas Carol' versions I have, and do I have duplicates?" I am not sure how many I have, and will get a count tonight, I do know that I am sure I have no duplicate printings/versions. I never thought about it before, but I would guess there are a good handful on the shelf.
Yesterday at "Whole Foods" we stopped to pick up some olive bread to go with the spaghetti dinner we where having - we ran into this deliciousness.....
Now, I am not a big fan of chocolate - unless it is really dark - and you know I am a big fan of the pig - from snout to tail - it is perfectly delicious!! So I squealed out loud at this and into the basket it went!! After dinner - I popped it open and found that the dark chocolate had a smokey taste with little salty, crunchy bacon bits - pretty good for a totally overpriced chocolate bar!! You can click HERE and get your own bacon/chocolate bar. It even comes in milk if dark is not to your taste.
On Sunday I whipped up a cake - called " Mom's Fresh Apple Cake" - I have posted the recipe for it and the frosting on Blacksheep Bakes. Here it is finished and ready for serving...

What??? I cannot imagine such a thing as bacon and chocolate together! Now, the other cakes mmmmm yes I can imagine those. Thanks for sharing. x
ReplyDeleteA bacon/chocolate combo sounds like a pregnancy craving! LOL! The cake sound wonderful, I will go check it out.
ReplyDeleteI watched an episode of "Ace of Cakes" and chef Duff had brought bacon flavored candy to his bakery/shop. I thought it was funny, so bacon flavored chocolate is no big surprise. In fact it sounds very tastey as there both my favorite foods!!!
ReplyDeleteJan
Bacon and chocolate????? Odd combination. Your cake looks absolutely scumptious.
ReplyDeleteAnd you know what would make it out of this word? Chocolate ice ceam. :)
OKay I will just have to take your word on that Bacon chocolate LOL Dont think I would even venture to try it and I am pretty adventureous when it comes to food Hahah
ReplyDeleteThat cake looks fab Edgar, I will have to take a peek at the recipe.
Take Care and keep on keeping on.
Edgar I am on a DIET your picture of the cake is tempting me to give up, I am having company next week-end I will try your cake if I can get past the ritual of licking the beaters I think I will reward myself with a big piece of cake after dinner.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of chocolate and bacon.
catherine
Thanks for the link to that chocolate bar -- I think. lol!
ReplyDeleteFunny...the title enticed me a bit as it is not usual...wow, what happened on Tuesday's Post! Checkout Carlos blog on 91.5 The Beat (Kitchener station). He loves bacon and some items he has shared have been bacon salt, lip balm, floss, mints and a fancey dress costume from 1894 as a "side of bacon"...he is obessesd with bacon and I will share your choc bar news with him...he will probably talk about on the show....he can't get enough bacon. Seems he is not the only one???
ReplyDeleteBacon is HUGE right now, people are putting it in everything! Which suits me just fine.
ReplyDeleteJust saw a recipe online the other day for bacon cinnamon rolls, and have also seen it in chocoloate chip cookies recently as well.
I loves me some bacon, so it all sounds good to me!
Bacon chocolate, seriously? What will they think of next?
ReplyDeleteBacon/chocolate just sounds weird to me.
ReplyDeleteBut man does that cake look yummy!
I tried the bacon chocolate once; it was good, but a little too salty. Now, back when I was pregnant that would have been just the right kind of chocolate for me!
ReplyDeleteChocolate covered bacon is a staple here at the Texas State Fair, and it is so good!! I'll have to check out the candy bar. :)
ReplyDeleteMy son just told me about the bacon flavored chocolate! I'll have to look for it. We're big Jim Gaffigan fans and he does a bit on bacon and how it goes with everything that is really funny. That cake looks yummy too! Nancy D.
ReplyDeleteI like chocolate and I like bacon, but I don't know about the 2 together.
ReplyDeleteOh My Goodness! I'm sooooo glad that chocolate bacon lives in America and not here (Australia). I can see it now (if it ever gets here and my husband finds out). The pantry will be stacked with the stuff and I will have to roll my husband out the door!
