Some Stitchin' Stuff - Something Old, Some Shopping and Something New

Gentle Friends......I finally finished up "MAY" and that darn sheep, for some reason it was just getting the better of me and my very short fuse.......

...  It is an odd looking sheep, a bit on the dog looking side, if truth be told.....
next up is June and I made some head way there......

...... "JUNE" is supposed to be a Hen, but all I can see is a really wonky duck, the blank space to the right will have a basket with eggs, but why would there be a Milk can??.......

Last Friday, both the Rico and I had off and I needed (yes, needed) a piece of linen for something wonderful and new coming down the line ......
so it was off to Needle in a haystack over in Alameda...

..... as always Debbie, Cathy and Jen were super nice, and totally helpful in getting the few things I needed......

.... I got some shots of the wonderful store......

.... and more lovelies.....

... there was a Jeannette Douglas Trunk Show Installed..... with lovely things see and admire....

.... Fall being my favorite time of year - this really spoke to me!

.... a wall of silk - just beautiful....

.... and these beaded ovals were great!!

I only needed the piece of linen - and was I in luck as there was only a stitchers 1/2 -
exactly what I needed in 36ct Pecan Butter - Woo Hoo!!

.... I also picked up a couple of skeins of silk that were the dye lot is considerably different from what I already had - and a couple of charts for stash.....  and some more needles....  my new start will be....

... The Sojourner Sampler, it's a private SAL that I am doing with the Needlework Guild of Minnesota.  This sampler was commissioned by the Bay Area Needle Guild last year and is all about SF and the different culture groups that immigrated here along with indigenous flora and fauna of the area.....  I'm very excited to start and as soon as I get "JUNE" done I'm going to jump right in on this piece!!  I'm about 4 months behind the group and the monthly assignments.  As I mentioned I'll be using 36ct "Pecan Butter" and the called for Belle Soie.

  2. Yes your sheep is dog-like and the hen could be a wonky duck, but it looks sort of like a hen too. There's a milk can because the hen is on a farm of course! LOL! Your new sampler is gorgeous. I look forward to watching your progress. Those threads are so rich and beautiful.

  3. That sampler is going to be just beautiful! How I wish there was a store like the one you have anywhere near Seattle. The closest stores to me are in Portland, OR or Victoria BC.

  4. Hi Edgar!
What a lovely shop this is! I would go nuts (and my credit card as well) when I would enter such a great store.
Love the sampler you're stitching on and the small Jeannet Douglas acorns is just great (hope you took it home with you?).
I'm hesitating about the Kathy Barrick as we don't have the tradition of Halloween in Europe (but it calls out to me loudly :-).
Pitty that the last sampler can't be bought. I would immediately jump in with both feet as I really love the combination of flowers on the border etc. (even if they aren't indigenous to my area).
Enough rattling ... have a nice day!

  6. Were your ears burning yesterday? Because Carol (Linen Stitcher) and I got together for a stitch day at her lovely home and we talked about you and your lovely projects and blog :) She recently moved her son to San Francisco and I asked if she had met up with you! maybe we will do a road trip out there some day and crash your and Rico's reality! HA HA!
I spy the beginning of the Jenny Bean Sampler...I've got mine too! I'm just trying to decide on a piece of linen! Anxious to see your Sojourner come to life!

  7. Looking good....you question the milk can ?...I question the scissors in January block. I wish I lived near a shop, and yet I would have to probably go to work to support the habit. Your new project should be fun. Funny I think I have tons of needles, heck I know I do. Yet I seem to use the same one for everything. Why?

  10. I had the honor of visiting NIAH once on a trip out that way years ago. I would be so in trouble if it were my LNS! I love seeing the goodies there. Your new start is divine!!! Do you happen to know if this one is exclusive to the guild or can others purchase this through a shop? I'd love to stitch it too. Hope you are having a good week!

  11. The Sojourner Sampler is beautiful. Four months behind......tsk! You'll be caught up with the other stitchers in no time. The Jenny Bean Alphabet sampler is calling to me. I'm going to wait and see what the next section looks like before I go all in. Does one of the future months depict a cow? Have a good week.

  12. WOW ... what a shop that is!
Love your new sampler, so bright and vibrant, will enjoy watching that grow.
Your sheep does looks a little dogish, and maybe the hen is supposed to be in the farmyard hence the milk churn? - it does look nice though.

  13. lol about the sheep and the hen. I agree with you on both. Too bad! Still love it! Great new stash! I really love that SF piece by Heart's Ease. I wonder if she will release it eventually -- or is it just an exclusive for the Sampler Guild?

  16. The sampler is looking great. I guess if the cat has a pair of scissors then the duck/hen can have a milk churn.

The needlework shop looks amazing, I really miss my LNS since it shut.

  17. Edgar, the designer of Sojourner is in my guild so I've seen this sampler in person. The floral border is so gorgeous! I'm working on Theresa's Delaware Inspiration Sampler, SAL with the Swan Sampler Guild, and I'm really enjoying it. Can't wait to watch your progress.

  18. All those gorgeous fibers in Needle in a Haystack!!! I'd easily spend hours in there, I'm sure. I love your Niky's Creations animals, and the Theresa Baird "Sojourner" sampler is magnificent. Look forward to watching that progress! I've started working on her Delaware Inspiration with the Swan Sampler Guild, but I'm behind the assignments and really must use the rest of April and May to get up to speed with the rest of the Guild members. Have a wonderful day and enjoy your stitching!
