Let's Talk About Some Trash......

Gentle Friends thanks for all then nice comments yesterday - yes, I was lucky to be able to find some things that were stolen from my mom, but there was lots of things that can never be recovered.   I had some questions from you all and so here is a bit more information ..........

I think the thing that gets my goat the most is how much theft goes on that the police and the judicial system are completely overwhelmed.  Then there are the antique dealers and pawn brokers who knowingly are buying stolen goods, but it that thought is secondary to the almighty making a quick buck!!

When I went to the police station to get a copy of the police report the police officer said to me ...... "oh yea, that family we know them from way back... they are bad news..."  I couldn't believe it - So here is so more specific information.....

Dale Sr's MugShot....  charming!!!

It's sort of a family business, so to speak, it's a father, Dale Sr.   and his sons working the Daytona/Ormond Beach/Holly Hill Area - or lets just say the greater Daytona Beach area - the sons are Dale Jr. and Daniel - (all the names are clickable to read more about their exploits) and the two boys are just as bad if not worse than the piece of crap father.  At this point the judicial system has let them loose again to prey on other people...... so they are running around doing what they do best, stealing from the unsuspecting.

Since I have absolutely no ties whatsoever to Daytona anymore, my parents, and grandparents are gone, and I sold my mom's house a couple of months ago - I am just going to name names and call a spade a spade!!  These are career criminals and a menace to decent society.

Sorry to be such a downer today, but I am still fuming from having to deal with this trash and the crap they stirred up. It'll be better tomorrow.  Thanks for listening.

Take care,
edgar

  1. I agree Edgar. Our system is leaning toward being "kind" to the criminals and making excuses for them, while attorneys continue to argue for their rights. Law abiders seem to be losing theirs.

  2. I loved yesterday's post, but did not get a chance to comment upon it.

I was quite shocked by how near and precisely pinpointed by photos and descript. you'd provided the items were, yet it could be that they were on the moon for all that the police managed to do about it!

That Chicken Clock (and its story) are so wonderful!

These do not look like some great guys! I wonder if they simply read the obits and then go loot the houses of persons therein of a certain age and neighborhood of residence. Makes me think twice about an emerging desire in myself to check out some antique shops.

This is probably no comfort/the wrong thing to say to you, but I can only hope that those items you were unable to recover--if they can not eventually make their way back to you--come to rest in the hands of those who will truly treasure them, thinking, "How on earth did such a fine thing come to be discarded separated from its family? I am very glad to have it, though, and will put it in pride of place here on my mantle/wall/chest."

  3. I do know how you feel. My parents had some items stolen from them a few years ago. Irreplaceable...the police couldn't or wouldn't do much ~ even though we had some ideas as to who had committed the act. Thankfully, neither mom or dad were home at the time ~
I agree with what Berit said, as I have thought that myself about the things taken from my childhood home...I hope those whose hands they now are in, caring for them.

  4. Dearest Edgar: I am sadden that some low life piece of crap is back on the streets, my husband is in law enforcement, when he worked the road before being promoted into the office he was always mad that judges would let scumbags go, they were so afraid they would offend the criminal.
I dislike people like this piece of trash, he needs to have his --s kicked, may I have the honor.
    Many blessings to you.

  6. Glad you could get some of it back. We were robbed not long after my mom died. They got most of my mom's jewelry and the police told us to check the local pawn shops and ebay and let them know if we found anything. Of course we never did find anything. People these days are unbelievable!

  8. Hi Edgar, so sorry you had to deal with all this. It certainly is more prevalent these days...and I'm glad you named names as one of my dear friends lives in the Daytona area. Congrats on your latest Quaker finish -- it is beautiful!!

  9. I totally understand where you are coming from as we were robbed when I was young. I will never forget walking into our home and seeing everything ripped apart. I is just so frustrating! Something you will never forget! Glad you were able to get some of your items back!

  10. I totally agree. The victims are looked down on & excuses are made for the criminals & their behavior.

  11. These people are losers! Shame on the antique dealers for aiding and abetting! I believe in Karma and they will get theirs! I am awfully glad you got some of your things back.

  12. One day they will face justice. Anyway, it feels good to vent, right?

  13. Edgar, When they robbed us , we were sort of told the same things. I will never have the watch my Grandfather gave my Grandmother for their weeding or the last ring my Mom gave to me. The police just sort of shrugged it off and said that these robberies happen all the time! I know how you feel!

  14. Oh Edgar, I'm so happy to hear that you were able to find some of your family treasures. I agree that that family sounds like nothing but bad news and seriously makes you wonder what the hell is happening in the world nowadays. So what happens when you tell the police that you found some of the token items? Do they go to retrieve them for you and then try to figure out how they came to be there?

  16. I'm currently working for a man, doing his family research. When his last relative died, he paid a "company" to clean out the home, store the stuff and prep it for sale. They didn't clean the house, but stole everything, right down to the family pictures. Part of my research project is to find family descendants who might be able to replace the family photos that were all lost. People like that are worse than amoebas!
