Weekend Finish and Autumnal Stitchin'

Gentle Friends sorry to not have posted yesterday, but I came back to a pile o'work and just dove into that....

It was a lovely looong weekend - the weather was just beautiful, bright, breezy and on the cool side until Sunday, it drizzled most of the day which carried over to Monday, which was alright.

I finished up the Christmas piece I have been working on,  what a super fun piece to work on - here's a snap -

Lizzie Kate "ABC's of Christmas"
36ct "Meadowlark" using the included floss
5/1 - 5/25

Although I really enjoyed this piece, I do have a couple of thoughts...  This would be a much nicer piece if there were a few more floss colours included, such as a gold or yellow, another shade of blue and another green would be nice.  Why this is a kit and not just a chart is beyond me, since I stitched this on a higher count linen I didn't need all the floss that came in the kit - and I already had the floss colours in my stash.  Overall it's a quick stitch and if and when i re-stitch it I will deal with the floss changes then.

After finishing up "ABC's" I was kind of at a loss as to what to pick up, so to the WIP basket I went and pulled out AaHRH - all I had completed was the border of the top section, I though I would work some on the Pumpkins.....  here's a snap...

Sorry about the wrinkles, but you get the idea.  This will be an ongoing BAP and I look forward to the stitching!!

I have a bunch more pictures to share from the weekend so stay tuned!!

Take care,
edgar

  4. Your Lizzie Kate is so much fun! I saw a finish of it at my LNS. The owner had put in all sorts of personal touches with buttons and beads and metallic thread in places. Very cute. Love your Autumn in the Hollow too!

  5. I love the finish. You are right though. There's no yellow anywhere on that piece. Maybe some metallic gold for a little sparkle. Oh well. It will still look nice on your wall.

Was that DMC or overdyed you used?

  6. Great job! Your stitching is so great. I enjoy seeing what you are working on. I have stitched the ABCs of aging artfully. Would you be interested in trading or selling the ABC Christmas chart.

  8. I knew you would get the ABC's of Christmas done! Looks great! I often wonder why some of these were packaged as kits. When just like you, a lot of us stitchers probably already have the needed floss and possibly fabric and would only be in need of the actual chart??? I have AAHRH in my stash. I am currently working CAHRH as my BAP. I really have to get back to that!

  11. Congrats on the great finish Edgar. I agree, I wish they sold those kits as just charts. I really don't like the overdyed floss and prefer to just use DMC. And they are a bit pricey.

  14. Lizzie Kate is wonderful but I do agree with you. I would much rather have a chart than a kit so I can do some of my own choices!

  15. I find myself changing colors on most of the Lizzie Kate alphabets I stitch. Love the pumpkins, the little spider hanging down is too cute.
