A Little Summer
Gentle Friends, I think Summer is upon us and now it's for sure, today at its midpoint we have arrived at the Summer Solstice.... which means I must post a lovely piece of Music...
... recorded at the Nyphenburg Palace, Munich... the first building you see in the video is actually not the Palace but the Pagodenburg, Royal Teahouse in the Palace Gardens... Julia Fischer is the head violinist here with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Chamber Orchestra. Enjoy!!

A Lotta Relief
Gentle Friends, so our three days of Summer have ended, and the 90+ degree weather here in the City has dropped back into the 60's and I am once again a happy camper!! Yesterday I left work around 3:30 and the temps were hovering at around 87... by about 5 pm they had dropped into the low 70's and by 5:30 looking out my back door towards Twin Peaks I saw a most welcome site...
... the fog pouring over the hill and bringing with it sweet cold weather... then by 7ish the weather had dropped to about 60 and I took this snap ...
... the whole of Noe Valley was wrapped in Fog and I had to turn the heat on a tad to take the chill off the room and make the hounds happy and I had my usual after dinner coffee!! Now things are back to normal and life is beautiful! - and most importantly I picked up my stitching again.

A Few Fun Things......
Gentle Friends... we've been having some really hot weather for this time of year here by the Bay... Monday the high was about 98... Tuesday with a high of about 90... and today is supposed to only get to the low 80's but we'll see later on... what' good is that it only lasts a few days then it's back to the upper 60's low 70's... what's bad is that there is no air-conditioning in my life... none at work and none at home..... only in the car during the ride to and from work or shopping can I crank up the air and sort of get cool/cold... all this heat will break in the next day or two, but it's too hot to stitch in the evenings so I sit in front of a fan with a bourbon a soda and swelter.... and... watch "The Spanish Princess" a pretty good show!!
Over the weekend in addition to the usual running around, we headed over to Japan Town...
for lunch and a little shopping...
... and we headed to our favourite little Japanese eatery... Kushi Tsuru....
... starting off with Hiyashi Wakame (seaweed salad) delish!! and some starter sushi... Tobiko (flying fish roe) on the left and Hamachi (yellowtail)..... then it was on to the delicious roll...
... a Spicy Tuna Roll...after lunch we walked around a bit and ended up at Kinokuniya a really large bookstore with tons of fun Japanese things and books... so I picked up from a large collection of little Nano Block projects.....
... and I put that sucker together when I got home. Thank goodness, there were detailed instructions because there would have been no way I could have gotten a finished Grey Wolf from a bag of tiny blocks.

I also picked up this new soda... and really liked it!! I like Coke, always have always will, I really do not like Pepsi, RC or off-brand colas, but I like a good cold Coca Cola!! Flavoured Cokes never really hit the mark with me and Cherry Coke is a flavour that makes me gag, so I was leery of trying this one but was pleasantly surprised after a sip or two... and even bought some to have at home!!

A Little Stitchin'
Gentle Friends, I finished up "Page One" of the ASB, and here's a snaperoo..
...what's actually pictured here are the first and last pages of the book... or as I interpret the instructions these are the first and last pages... I did change up the color of the flowers to a lovely lilacy/purple silk. I thought the leaves were very reminiscent of lilac or even violet leaves... the flowers were charted to be the dark blue color of the letters to the left but hey, it's mine and I wasn't sure what the dark blue flowers were supposed to be and I went with what I like instead.

A Little More Rememberin'
Gentle Friends, so, yesterday would have been my Grandfathers birthday, today would have been my mom's 93rd Birthday...and a couple of snaperoos from the past...
... this is a picture I'm dating to about 1944 or so and would have been my Mom's Debutante photo... and here's a photo that hangs in my house .....
... of my dad, me and my mom that was taken around Thanksgiving of 1963. What's up with my mouth hanging open and the deer in the headlights look I'm giving!!

A Little Remeberin'
Gentle Friends, today would have been my grandfathers 112th birthday. Although he's been gone 25 years I still miss him dearly...
... this snap was taken in 1965 at Christmas time in Mississippi. It's of My Grandfather, me and my Grandmother. My grandparents would drive down every year from Raleigh to spend the holidays with us... such happy memories!!! Love you Papa!!

A Little Stitchin'
Gentle Friends, stitching away on the "Book." Here's a snap of where I left off...
... finished up the first page. The silk photographs quite a bit darker than it is in person, it's a nice darkish blue... on well. There were a couple of missing stitches that I added in because it would have driven me crazy not too!!
