Gentle Readers and Dear Friends again I must thank you so very much for all your kind comments and emails. Warming up another cold morning with such kindness - thank you!!

I wanted to start off today's post with an exchange I received yesterday - I took part in the last round of the Ornament Exchange over at the HOE - it was a Stitchers Choice Exchange and I was lucky enough to have as my partner Marie from Tirilluim Creates. Her stitching and finishing are top notch and the ornament she sent me was another super job!! Here is a snap...
The chart was a freebie, but I left the info at home - isn't he just darling!! I do love reindeer and he is a winner. Thank you so much, Marie!! He went right on to my "Tree of Stitching."
__________
Last night we finished getting up both our big Christmas tree and my smaller "Tree of Stitching." Let me start off with the smaller but more important of the two trees. By our front door we set up my faux feather tree and mercury glass Snow Family and this year was no different. Here are some snaps...
from the front door you see the tree from this side.... and.....
from the other side you see more lovelies.
I have so many great stitching friends, buddies, comrades of the needle everywhere - and have done quite a few exchanges that I have quite a collection of super ornaments and pieces of Christmas Stitching that I do love to pull together and decorate a tree. We where talking last night and think it is time for a bigger tree!!... so I am now on the hunt for a more traditional and bigger feather tree, and by next year I'll have one!! I love seeing and thinking about everyone that stitched these for me - and that's what Christmas is all about Family and Friends - and although we can't all get together - I can get together my wonderful tokens of friendship!!!! Thank you all so much!!!
I also put up my Nativity that my Grandmother made for me when I was a mear baby - about a bazillion years ago!!
I love having this out and seeing it every year!! Not only because my Granny made it but because it is the reason for the season!!!
I also wanted to show some shots of our tree. We went with our faux tree instead of getting a live one - so it went up easy and there will be not all that needle fall out in a few weeks!!
Here are some snaps....
Here are some snaps....
An overall shot of the tree - with my creche to the lower left..... and some close ups....
I really like this ornament - since I love magnolia and it sparkles, who could ask for more!!
and another snap...
and another snap...
One of my favorite Santa ornaments and you can see my reflection in the purple ball - I love putting up a tree and seeing all the old ornaments come out - we have such a mish mash of things to go on the tree - I love them all - the funny ones, the old and scratched ones , the home made and the store bought ones - its all lovely Christmas - to me at least!! Even as laden as the tree is I still have a ton of ornaments left over that I had to pack up and put away - I could have decorated this tree over again and still had some left over!! One of my favorite things to put on the tree is the star - it is old and plastic, and has been around since I was a toddler - and although some people do not like it (not mentioning any names... begins with R) I like it and it goes on the top of the tree!!!!

Well, I think I have droned on enough today sports fans!!

Take care,

Love the reindeer ornie! Well...Love them all actually. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThe reindeer ornament is wonderful, and you have quite a collection of stitched ornaments! I'm still stitching away trying to have enough for a tree - next year hopefully! Edgar, your traditional tree is just gorgeous! I would put the star on too - things that have memories make everything so much more special!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is some awesome Christmasy goodness...I love your life-size tree with all the yummy ornies, but that feather stitching tree is out of this world! You are one blessed stitcher, LOL!
ReplyDeleteYour nativity is beautiful and extra special...what a wonderful heirloom.
Woohoo on your exchange package...that ornie is definite eye candy...enjoy.
There certainly are lots of memories on both of your trees. You are very lucky.
ReplyDeleteEdgar --
ReplyDeleteYour trees are absolutely wonderful. What a treat to decorate them both and have so many wonderful memories attached to it.
Thanks so much for sharing! I just love seeing everyone's trees!
Thank you for sharing your trees with us Edgar. Both are lovely and your nativity is absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh Edgar, I just love both your trees! They make me happy just looking at them. Someday I hope to have my own little tree full of special ormanents made by my stitching friends. Love your nativity too. What a precious special reminder for the season.
ReplyDeleteLOL...your tree sounds like mine, and my parents' before me. I remember one year when one of the BILs was helping decorate at my parents'. We were trying to cram more ornaments on the tree and he said, "Wait!! I think I see a sprig of green over here...we must cover that up!" =)
ReplyDeleteI had a couple themed Christmas parties a few years ago(Snowfall-blue/white and Starlight-cream/gold), so I now have enough ornaments for three trees at least!!
Love the tree. Don't have so many glass balls on the tree with little ones running around. My only regret is that my collection of Star Trek magic ornaments don't fit into the sockets of the lights on this pre-lit Christmas tree so we've left them off. Any cross stitched ornaments on there as well?
ReplyDeleteLovely exchange! I love seeing your small tree with all the stitched ornaments on it. And your large tree is lovely as well. So many pretty decorations! And yes, the memories connected with the ornaments are so important.
ReplyDeleteBoth trees are Stunning. Please share the link for the reindeer freebie. He is adorable...
ReplyDeleteOMG your little ornie tree is packed to the gills, you're going to have to get a second one pretty soon. And Edgar your Christmas tree is STUNNING, I love it!
ReplyDeleteYou do need a bigger tree to display all your wonderful things properly. I love your glass ornaments and your star. I have those old treasures too. Plus, like you some that I just don't have room to put out.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great tree you have there and I mean the big one! All those lovely vintage ornaments. I really don't know how to decorate my tree so thickly with ornies.
ReplyDeleteAs for the stitching tree well that's another adventure I guess and it is amazing!AriadnefromGreece!
Love the exchange ornament your received... it looks fabulous on the blue linen.
ReplyDeleteYour ornament tree is wonderful... so many ornaments and fond memories of those you stitched some of those ornaments for you.
All your holiday decorations look great.
Whatta treat of a post!! I LOVE it! the tree is absolutely my favorite part of Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI agree that your feather/ornament tree needs a size upgrade--gosh, what a collection! :D Does Rico like them too?
Our regular tree needed an upgrade this year, and I went with a pre-lit model. OF COURSE, I still added some more lights! lol!
I can see where he is coming from on the star, BUT it does work really well with the overall look of the tree (Wondrously colourful and shiny!), and more importantly is tradition! Maybe he could pick the star for your new feather tree?
We have a nice capiz star for our tree topper here. :)
Love love love the reindeer!! And your trees and decorating are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHere is a link to my blog if anyone is interested! I would love to have some followers, even though I am a really boring writer !

ReplyDeleteGorgeous tree, Edgar! I love the stitching tree but you have so many beautiful ornaments that maybe you should think of a larger tree. I love the memories that you shared.

Lovely trees. Both of them. Just amazing.
ReplyDeleteWonderful exchange. That reindeer pattern is really cute. Your trees are amazing! We have a similar tree topper discussion at our house, but in the name of harmony, I deal with the ratty old angel (I'd much prefer my ratty old star!!)
ReplyDeletethe trees are beautiful
ReplyDeleteYour tree is just lovely! I would have trouble taking it down!
ReplyDeleteThe reindeer looks beautiful. Lucky you

Wonderful post Edgar! Everything looks so beautiful - and I do love your star! Our star is cut from cardboard and covered in foil - made by my older two boys when they were toddlers!
