Gentle Readers and Dear Friends thank you all so much for your kind comments and emails - I do love reading them in the morning and they do brighten up an otherwise dreary cold Monday!!
__________
Over the weekend there was lots of Christmas cheer in our lives..... on Saturday evening we had quite a few parties to attend. I carried my camera, it is small and fits in my pocket. I think the prettiest party we got to was one I look forward to every year - giving by our friends Chris and Mo. They have a great old San Francisco painted lady and so the Christmas party is always has such an old fashioned feeling and is really just beautiful... here are some snaps
There was a lovely tree in the front parlor. It has both electric light and candles - which they lit later in the evening, and no matter how many pictures I take I just can not get a good candlelit one - but trust me it is a sight to warm the coldest heart!!
There were banks of poinsettias all over the house.
and of course there was Humphrey the Christmas camel. Chris has him out every year.
After leaving Chris and Mo's we had one more party to get to, but stayed only a little while. The city was busy all over and traffic was terrible - and parking was worse!
___________
We put our tree yesterday - I'll get some snaps of that tomorrow - and of course there was the Christmas cheer to have while decorating....
..... a big old glass of the PA Dutch Egg Nog (at almost 30 proof, which is a bit on the strong side) I will cut it with some Bud's. Now I like a good kick to my Egg Nog and the blend of these two is almost perfect!! Here in the Bay area Bud's is about the best there is to be had, IMHO - simply delicious!!!!!!
___________
I finished up my last Exchange for the year and will have that in the mail today - so I got to work a bit on my ABC Noel - I bet you forgot about that didn't you!!! Here is a snap..
I finally finished up the little Santa type elf on "V" and am now on to "W." As you can see each of the letters are sort of striped with the shades of red, here I have stitched in the brighter of the two and will fill with the darker. It is hard to tell in my craptastic snaps but the two reds together look rather nice.
I think that about wraps it up for today sports fans. Thanks again for stopping by, do come again!!!
Take care,
edgar

Chris and Mo certainly decorate beautifully! Your Christmas alphabet will be finished the nest time we see it; way to go. I haven't seen the PA Dutch eggnog here, but now I'm going to go looking! I've been replacing some of the milk in my chai tea with non-alcoholic eggnog, and it's the best I've ever made - not sure I'll like going back to the old way when the eggnog disappears from the stores. Oh, well - I already have something to look forward to!
ReplyDeleteYour friends have a beautiful home with lovely decorations and your ABC Noel is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThe camel is adorable. My daughters boyfriend's name is Kemuel, nicknamed "Camel". Just between you & me, Humphrey is cuter!!
ReplyDeleteOh that tree is bee-you-tee-full!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove that camel. I'm sure there is a story behind that.
Your sampler is gorgeous!
Wonderful X'mas tree! Love your Christmas ABC Sampler!
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays!
Hugs,
Beautiful beautiful decorations. I want a camel. Love that boy. Your stitching is so striking with those colors and clean lines. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous tree and other decorations! I just love that camel! I had never heard of that eggnog (the 30 proof stuff) but it's definitely going on my shopping list! Your idea of mixing it with the regular eggnog is great and I know we would enjoy some here.
ReplyDeleteI just love popping by and seeing all your stitching and I've made quite a few of your recipes. I don't always comment, but wanted you to know how much I enjoy your blog. :)
Blessings - Julie

ReplyDeleteABC is coming up beautifully. So christmasy
Thank you for sharing your Christmas party pics! The tree is beautiful. I remember my Grandparent's lighting the candles on their tree - I've been too scared to try it.
ReplyDeleteHere is another wonderful tree! That eggnog looks delicous--I need to make some before the season slips away!
ReplyDeleteHumphrey is so cute! The house looks like it was stunning with the decorations and all those poinsettias.
ReplyDeleteI love eggnog, and haven't had any yet this year. I like to make my own cheap eggnog lattes by just putting some as creamer in my coffee.
Your ABC Noel is looking absolutely stunning. Can't wait to see it finished.
What a fabulous house your friends have! Loved seeing the pics! Your stitches look great - you're almost there!
