Some Stitchy Pictures

I was thinking as I started to read through the mountain of blog entries (and made very little headway) how much I missed visiting with everyone daily!!!! I know that there are lots of people out there reading and visiting around, and I thought how it is so nice to be back!!!

Of well, now for some pictures. I am starting off with the two pieces that were Christmas presents that I couldn't show before.

The first is a sampler that I gave my sister and her husband. The colours fit so nice in their house especially the burgundy red..

It is hard to tell but the frame has a slight red cast to it. The floss I used is some hand dyed silk that came with the chart and is one over 2 on 36 or 38 count raw/rough linen. The chart is an 18th century Pennsylvania reproduction sampler.

The next piece is one that I made for a dear friend of mine. He and I have been friends for over 20 years. What is really funny is that when he was over this past fall he asked when he would get a "piece of the sewing" that I am always doing. He did not know it but this was finished and at the framers when he asked.

I used Vicki Clayton silks for this. The green is Imperial Jade and the blue/purple is I think Twilight something, the linen is just some that I had that I though looked nice. I really liked doing this and it worked up pretty quick. You no what a nut I am for that Quaker stuff!!! I really like how they both turned out. I posted the piece I gave my mother a while back and she was very happy with the sampler as it would go very nice in her breakfast room.

The piece I took with me to work on was Miss Potter and she is just bee-bopping along. Here is a snap of the progress.

What I got finished where the two large medallion circles in the top row and the little bits around them. I am pleased with this and although premature I am starting to think about how to frame this sucker. I know "cart before the horse" but I can't help it.

The last week or so I have been finishing up on exchange pieces, Winter House, Winter Quaker and Valentine...I need to finish construction tonight and tomorrow so that I can get back to my rotation. It's Britex time. :)

I will post some Christmas snaps tomorrow!!!

Thanks for stopping by!!!!!!!

Take care,
edgar

  5. Welcome back! I couldn't stay away during the holidays, so spent a LOT of time with the free WiFi at a local Panera Bread company. I even read a lot of blogs on my iPhone, but it's not the best for commenting. At least you got some beautiful stitching done.

    Stay dry!

  6. Yowzer. Those are some gifts, Edgar! Simply stunning. I was surprised (though I don't know why) to see Bea in all her glory. It looks as if you have a happy dance to look forward to in the near future!

  7. "Piece of sewing"...LOL! That sounds like something my husband would say. He uses the not-quite-right words when referring to my stitching...stitching is "sewing", floss is "string", fabric is "cloth"...poor guy! In his defense, he does take an interest in it, even if he gets the terminology wrong. :-)

  9. Beautiful samplers Edgar - I love the frames you chose too. BP is looking lovely too - won't be long before that is at the framers.

I am one of those sad people who take a laptop on vacation - I can't bear to be offline for too long LOL
