A Little Stitchin'

Gentle Friends, I've been stitching and frogging away on Anniversaries for the past few days...
here's a snap...

... I was much further along until things starting to fall apart and started to not line up..... then I started to look back and count and eventually I found I was off 1 stitch way, way back.  So instead of just fudging it along, I decided to just frog it all out.  It would have made me crazy with things off a by a stitch.

  1. It is looking good. I am sorry you had to unstitch and then re-stitch.

  3. I hate when that happens! I'm like you, Edgar, I'd rather take it all out and fix the mistake than keep going. Although I will admit that when I'm back stitching and find a stitch that not crossed I leave it. All of my pieces have at least one little flaw in them like that. For some reason, that doesn't bother me. But to be off a stitch or two drives me mad. I know, I'm odd... or maybe quirky is a better word! haha

  4. Sorry you had to frog but I would have done the same...it's such a beautiful piece it would have been a shame if you had always seen the "mistake".
I hope that's it from now on!

  5. I'm sorry you have to do all that frogging. Depending on how far back it was, I might just decide to start over again. But I know, in the end, you'll be happy you went back and corrected it. It's a lovely piece to be stitching.

  6. Sorry about needing to frog. I would have been bothered by that also. It is looking good now.

  7. So sorry you had a visit from the frog!! I would have done the same thing. It is usually harder to keep fudging than just deal with the mistake. It is looking real good .

  8. I loathe frogging! I must admit that sometimes I work around a mistake, it all depends on what it is . x

  9. It has been said, "A plane going over would never notice" just one
stitch, that is.... but it can be maddening to know that things are
not framing up...Like you, I belong to the frogging coterie. Those
delicate edges can be trying... hope the rest falls into perfect place for you, Edgar. It is looking lovely.

  10. Beautiful work Edgar!

A number of years ago I was working on a piece for a dear friend who was about to become a grandmother for the first time. I was going great guns on it, when I realized I had made an error...somewhere. It took awhile, but holey moley, it was waaaayyyyy back in the design. GAH! I considered a number of different ways to "get around it" but in the end I frogged out an entire section of cross stitch (it took me over two hours to do this) and re-stitched. A major pain, but I don't regret doing it; in the end it counted as one evenings stitching. That's the challenge of counted cross stitch! Who knew one stitch could wreck such havoc?

    ;-) A wink w/a smile.
