A Little Kitty

Gentle Friends, the last couple of weeks have brought more little four-footed love bundles.  A little back story...  most of our neighbors have cats - and "kitty sitters" or to board a cat can get really expensive - so we've stepped into the breach and help out when asked - last week Kim and Brian asked us to help out ... so I got some snaps of their three kitties....

.... here are Hubert and Roger.... really sweet and needed lots of kitty kisses and scratches.....

...  Roger was all up in the camera and really is the sweetest ...

...  of the three kitties it is Bob-Cat, the oldest kitty, that needs the most attention, he's basically blind and needs to be given a little pill twice daily, he's really great about taking them... and that's what been going on around the old homestead lately, thanks for stopping by, do stop again!!

A Little Dinner

Gentle Friends, over the long weekend we met up with some friends in the Mission at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants.....

... it a family run place that's been around for decades and the food they make is really delicious...

... we started off with some of their guacamole...

... John and I both had shrimp quesadillas...

... Rico had beef flautas....

... and Mike had one of their gigantic wet burritos with some of their homemade red sauce!!  

Another delicious dinner at one of our favorite restaurants.  What is so really great about this neighborhood place is that it's run by nice people and they serve delicious food.  It's also off the beaten track and we can usually find a parking space in under 10 minutes!!

A Little Stitchin'

Gentle Friends, well, I had a good loooong weekend of doing just about nothing.... a little stitchin a little cleaning a little laundry....  a little nap..... some movies and a fun dinner out with friends......  today I wanted to post a snap of where I've gotten to on AotH...

...  I finished up the first of the two filler charts - and I've almost solidified what, who and where I'm going to start stitching in some personalized stuff..... but for now, I'll just keep plugging away.....

A Little Baking

Gentle Friends, over the weekend I baked up a super cake from a recipe I found last week....

...from Sally's Baking Addiction came this delicious recipe....  Pineapple Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting.... the only changes I made were to bump up the spices a bit and shift out the walnuts for pecans ( I only had pecans) but other than that nothing more and it was really delicious.  Moist and solid like a great cake should be, thank you so much Sally another winner!!!

A Little Thrifting

Gentle Friends, out and about last Saturday I found a few nice things.....

... from the top left... a super cut glass decanter that cleaned up clear and sparkly... when I spotted it sitting on a kitchen table at an estate sale it had the residue and dregs of sherry swishing around in the bottom with the insides entirely clouded over with dried on sherry, the lord knows how many years the liquor had been evaporating leaving only the sediment ...  

...I was also lucky enough to find this super 19th-century majolica figural piece for cigarettes and matches, it's unusual in that there is no damage at all... I also found a little carved frame, and great victorian papier mache tray, the last thing in the snap is a lovely, heart-shaped hand painted piece of porcelain from Dresden.... overall not many pieces in quantity but some great quality to be sure!!

A Little Glamour

Gentle Friends, one of the fun things that go on in our lives here by the Bay are the events for Rico's Softball team.  Each team in the SF Gay Softball League is sponsored by a Bar which in turn becomes the team's "Home Bar.'  The "F" Liners (named for the trolly cars that turn around on upper Market in the Castro) home bar is The Edge... at many of the fundraisers Rico and the other Cheerleaders dress up in Drag and do an over the top show which packs the Bar to overflowing and they raise quite a bit of money that go to support the "F" Liners....  so.... what today's post is all about is Rico getting made up for the first event a week ago...

... we headed over to Patrick's house, he is the Teams Coach and in real life, he's a professional makeup artist - and done lots of famous folks when they perform here in the City, the last famous person he worked on that I can think of was Cindy Wilson of the B52's....  

...the above snap is Rico getting ready for his transformation.

... with the upper lashes on...

... the lower lashes make a difference...keeping the white highlights that will pop in the spotlight...

.. with the wig, jewels, dress, and tulle the look comes together!!  As you can see he's wearing his Summer diamonds.......some are diamonds and some are not!! (stolen from Mae West)    

Mama Rico was a huge hit and made a ton a money, in fact making the most of all the "gals" performing!!
