Gentle Friends I thought to day I would give you a break from my "Travel Log." The weekend here by the Bay was just lovely.... or would have been if it wasn't so dang hot!! Bright and sunny and in the low 80's/upper 70's..... that's how it is during our "Autumn" - you get those warm days. But, we have been told that the cool weather is coming by the end of the week - woo hoo!!!

Yesterday I finished up the Winter Sampler I had been working on.....
Heartstring Samplery - "Baby, Its Cold Outside"

I laid the antique frame I had over the finished stitching to show what it will eventually look like, once I get it in gear and stretched and pinned and in place. If you remember that I stitched this piece to fit the frame so I elongated the piece and added quite a bit of stitching to the letters and moved things up and down to work better visually. It's a great piece to do and worked up really fast!! Beth, the designer behind "Heartstring Samplery" has a great Blog to read HERE, and does some really wonderful things, go check it out!!

On Saturday Rico and I and some Friends went to dinner to celebrate my Birthday, I wanted to stay in the neighborhood so we went to Patxi's Pizza down on 24th Street. It's my favorite Pizza in the City!! Then we went back to our house and had some cake and coffee. Rico had gotten me an Italian Rum cake from our favorite Bakery, Dianda's, and I got a snap of that.....
It was lots of fun and low key, just like I like it!!!

ReplyDeleteWhen I first looked at the phot of your stitching, I thought it was already framed and that it was a perfect frame and I loved the gold on the inside of the frame - perfect. Then when I read how you had altered the design to fit the frame, I thought "How Clever!" Well done!

Nice finish, and I noticed one candle.... fire code any all that limited the candles. That is what happens when I have a cake. Being married to a retired firefighter and having a son-in-law a firefighter too ( Both comment on the number of candles ) Hope you had a great Birthday.
