Eatin' My Way Through the Weekend......(Photo Heavy)

Gentle Friends I thought with today being "Hump Day" and all us happy camel types looking forward to the weekend, that I would gather all the foodie snaps and do one big "Eatin' Post."  So, with that being said, here are the snaps of some yummy type food......!!

Lets start with some Fair Food - and I am always stunned by "Giant Turkey Legs" on the grill - a staple for Fairs be they Street, County or State, you see grills set up roasting these legs.   They smelled great and I saw lots of them being carried around and eaten by Fair goers.

Another staple of the Fair are candy apples and this case epitomised that genre....

For dinner I chose to have some Fish and Chips, well, Fish and hush puppies, I do love a good hush puppy....

... here's my dinner with a sweet tea, when I ordered it I asked about the "puppies"  "do they have onion in them?" ... and she looked at me oddly, and then turned to the fry-guy who assured me they did.  Now, for me a hush puppy without onion is just fried corn-dough, and not worth my time, its that slight tang of the onion that pushes it over the top and into the sphere of deliciousness!!

For lunch Saturday my sister really wanted me to go to Killer Burger - a locally family owned chain of burger places.  Let me tell you, they were some killer burgers!!!!!

I got the "Old School" burger, and asked for it rare (it can never be too rare for me) and it was grilled to perfection!!  At Killer Burger, you always get fries and every burger comes with bacon - WooHoo!!!!

My sister got the "Peanut-Butter-Pickle-Bacon Burger and fries.....

... and my BIL got the "Classic" but made it a Fatty by adding a second burger patty.  I would highly recommend this place if you are near one and make a point of visiting if you are going to be in or around Portland, or Vancouver, WA.

Sunday morning we headed out to breakfast to "The Original Hotcake and Steak House" - a place I had been to before and really enjoyed - it's a great breakfast and a fun place to go!!

I got a favorite of mine - a waffle, the skinny crispy kind - and a side of sausage links - I do love me a good piece of sausage!!

My sister got cakes and eggs with a side of bacon.....

... and BIL got steak and eggs with a side of cakes, this comes with a bowl of sausage gravy you can just see in the lower left corner for the steak.  The kids got omelets (no snap).

There you go all the food in one posting - there are still some more Fair shots and Vancouver shots for tomorrow and I'll be wrapping it up on Friday with a progress snap of LK "Hallowe'en Mystery" piece - I didn't do much stitching over the weekend.  I had my stitching all ready to go and then  fell asleep waiting for my plane, and the on the plane, both coming and going - they were some nice naps, but not much action.

Thanks for stopping by, do stop again!!

Take care,
edgar

  1. The toffee apples remind me of my childhood. A local lady used to make them and sell them for church funds. As soon as word got around all the local children would rush to her house to buy one - they were delicious. (I've never heard of a hush puppy).
