A new Start - BP Companion

I had a new start last night - I really wanted to get going on the Beatrix Potter Companion and so I hauled that sucker out - found the middle- and the rest they say is history. I am REALLY liking this Belle Soie to work with. Very soft and few to no tangles..... I usually stitch with a "way too long" piece so I do have issues with tangling. It really annoys me when I even cut a piece to make it shorter and it will still twist all to heck and back. But, this stuff is great to work with. (my little advert for the morning) Here is a snap of the progress -

I think I will really like working on this a whole lot!! It has many of the bells and whistles that do it for me - 1) splotchy fabric , 2) 32 ct, 3) the floss is a really nice grey/green and 4) it is a big Quaker thing!!! I am stitching it as charted, so if you look on the upper right bar it is pretty jagged and not straight, charted that way and it is not offensive - I have in the past and will continue to stitch or rechart something if there is a mistake and it doesn't look right.

I had a couple of questions in the comments that I wanted to answer -

Hi Margaret - thanks for commenting, always appreciated!! - SABLE means - "Stash Acquisition Beyond Life Expectancy" - I thought that was the greatest acronym and I think many stitchers have reached that..... but that does not stop any of us from buying, now does it. :)

Hi Jan - Yes, an trip to the Bay area is very justified!!! San Francisco is a really fun city to visit and NIAH is a great shop right in Alameda, which is very close...
probably 15 mins from downtown SF. :)

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Take care,
edgar

Missed you yesterday Edgar.

I just love your new start but then I would wouldn't I? lol It's absolutely gorgeous and is definitely is on my 'List'. Did Rico comment on the colour (yet another in grey)? :-)

I didn't know what SABLE meant so thanks for the explanation - I guess that it does apply to me - but I really do n-e-e-d to buy some more so I'm off to the NIAH site - your fault!

This one as always is a beautiful start. Wonderful fabric. I love splotchy fabric also. That floss looks fab against the fabric. Great choice.

NIAH is a place I have not visited yet. I am gonna try and get over there SOON. I hear so man great things about that place. And why should I not go it' just on the other side of the BAY for me.

Your splotchy fabric is doing it for me too...what is it? In fact I believe all your fabric choices do it for me...who do you use?
AND I agree totally about Belle Soie, and I believe Crescent Colours are the best hand-dyed cottons out there because they don't tangle....just my little advert for the day ;)

Another great post Edgar you never disappoint and bring a smile to my jowls every time. Thanks too for your post to Katie...she was grinning ear to ear reading all of them from all over the world.

SOOOOOO glad to know what SABLE finally means! I now do not feel so bad for the stash that I have gathered knowing that I may never complete every project... afterall, as long as I'm not alone in my acquisitions ;)

Beautiful stitching Edgar, I can't wait to see the progress you make on this, it's beautiful with the linen and color of floss!

great start as always. you will be hooked on the Belle Soie real soon. I just used it on a LHN i stitched Schoolgirl Lessons and am totally converted. it is like stitching with butter and never tangles.
SABLE, i think i have reached that about 3 times already. LOL
