A Few Strawberries

Gentle Friends, my "new" stitch is an older Blackbird Designs piece from their Loose Feathers Sampler Series...

Agnes Platt's Strawberry Sampler - Spring 2013.  I'm stitching this on 40ct LL Vintage Lentil, one of my favorite linen's to use - and - for the most part, using the called for floss.  The first big change I made to the floss was to the color of the strawberries.  The called for color is a really bright Christmas shade of red  GAST "Holly Berry."  Well, I knew right off that wouldn't work with all the other really lovely softer shades being used, so I switched that sucker out for  GAST's "Rhubarb."  As you well know the overdyed floss from GAST colors can range all over the place and the three skeins of floss I have of Rhubarb are all different so I'll mix them up a bit as I go along.  It's going to be a fun piece to stitch this Spring/Summer...

A Coverlet Finish

Gentle Friends, I wrapped up the little coverlet piece I've been working on...  here's a snap...

"Coverlet Candle Mat" kit - by The Scarlett House
4/19-4/28/20
used the included overdyed floss
GAST "Country Redwood," "Harvest Basket" and "Wrought Iron"
on an unnamed piece of 36ct linen from my stash

It was a fun little stitch to do and break up the sampler stitching I usually do.  I've picked out my next project... a Blackbird Loose feather Design from a few years ago...  I'll post a snap after I start.

A Little Peace

Gentle Friends, a song originally written in protest and just beautiful...
one of my very favorite pieces...

Finlandia - Jean Sibelius - Sung by Cantus

Here are the lyrics...

This is my song, O God of all the nations
A song of peace, for lands afar and mine
This is my home, the country where my heart is
Here are my hopes, my dreams, my holy shrine
But other hearts in other lands are beating
With hopes and dreams as true and high as mine

My country's skies are bluer than the ocean
And sunlight beams on cloverleaf and pine
But other lands have sunlight too, and clover
And skies are everywhere as blue as mine
Oh hear my song, thou God of all the nations
A song of peace for their and for mine

A Finish and a Film

Gentle Friends, so I've worked the puzzle over the last few days...

... and I finished it up last night.  I found the second puzzle we had had but it's about 2 inches too big for the card table and I'm working on the dining room table every day so it'll have to wait until a later time.  I really enjoyed it and will have to get online and order a couple smaller sized that'll fit!!

I'm making some real headway on the little coverlet piece but I forgot to get a snaperoo....
maybe tomorrow...
_____________

Monday the mails brought some DVD and blu rays' I had ordered and one of them is a film I  really wanted to add to the heap of films I already have...
I Know Where I'm Going! (1945) - IMDb
... released in 1945 it's a wonderful love story about a determined young woman played by Wendy Hiller on her way to the far northern fictitious isle of Kiloran to get married to an older rich industrialist. She gets all the way to the jumping-off point to the island and bad weather sets in.  It's while she's waiting for the weather to clear she meets a local also waiting to get to the island and a romance ensues.  It's wonderfully shot in the Scottish highlands.  Look for Petula Clark as a young girl in the film. I highly recommend the film!!
