A very Little New Stitchin'

Gentle Friends, I decided to jump right in with a 2021 SAL from over at Modern Folk Embroidery.  I had thought I wrapped my head around the choice of floss colours, but once I got going it was a little less clear... so here's a snaperoo of where I left off last night...

... the piece is called "The Fruits of Plenty" and each section releases on the first of the month throughout the year.  You can stitch this either monochromatically or duo-chromatically, I chose a two colour variation.  I'm stitching it on 40ct "Moonglow" from PTP and thought I was going to use "Wavy Navy" from CC and "Corn Flower" from GAST.  Well, I'm sticking to Wavy Navy (I do love this black/blue floss) but am not so hot with the "Cornflower".  I stitched a bit in the upper left corner and don't really like it too much so I pulled the other 12 shades of light blue overdyed flosses I have from stash to figure something else out.  After eliminating more than half of them for various reason I narrowed the field to "Morning Glory" from GAST.  It's a very pale blue shade that I was looking for and think it might just work... there are a couple of other choices I have on hold back but let me get in a bit of "Morning glory" to try... the little bit I have left is just enough of a taste to see it but not enough to jump in with stitching... I am very happy with the Moonglow linen, it has just enough of a yellow cast to it that sort makes the dark blue really pop, the snap above sucks but IRL it works all over the place!!

A Little Stitchin'

Gentle Friends, here's where I left off on Little Birds last night...

... I took this snap this morning and the light falling across the piece makes such odd shadows... BUT, I did finish out the 4th and 5th rows... I set my goal and gotter done!  Now on to the next row of larger bits OR I might start up a SAL piece for 2021 that I am seriously considering.  I'm kinda waffling about a little bit but it seems that everything's coming together so it might just happen.  We'll see!

A Little Stitchin'

Gentle Friends, slow going this week ... here's a snap...

...  usually, I stitch every evening but over the course of this week I only picked up the stitching three times so there's not too much headway to show...

A Little Stitchin'

Gentle Friends, back at the old grindstone this morning and it's a wet one here by the Bay... thank goodness we need the rain for sure... so I thought I post a snaperoo of where I am on Little Birds...

... for some reason, this picture I took really comes pretty close to the color of the linen... for a change!  As usual, I made a couple of small changes as I stitched along.  I re-charted the number "11" and added the number "12" to the end of the second line.  It looks better to my eye and I gotta look at the thing for a good long while yet... and I added a few stitches to the curly green line at the end of the top line just to even it out a bit.  I was really hoping all the things I have on order would have arrived by now so I could start my New Years' piece, but they are on the way and I'll get a'going on that when it all arrives.

A Little Vacuuming???

Gentle friends,  I started off this afternoon with the best intentions of vacuuming a little, dusting a lot, and changing out the flowers for the week... instead...

... I made cookies!  They are called "Darn Good Cookies" from the basic recipe I switched up the single chip with three types of chocolate chips, and instead of one nut two types of nuts...  Basically, they are a nice crispy chocolate chip cookie with a slight chew towards the middle... tasty!!  I might just get to some housework tomorrow after Mass...  maybe not!
